Collectors Dolls - Cabbage Patch Kids

In this series of articles about the time the collectible dolls that we all go through the audit to start one of the most popular collectible dolls, Cabbage Patch Kids.

If you're old, or maybe even not so old, I remember the Cabbage Patch Kids. What you probably do not know is what happened to these hot once again that all terms, but they disappeared.

The first Cabbage Patch Kids were created by a man named Xavier Roberts. Began to make her dollBabyland General Hospital from its own in Cleveland, Georgia in 1979. Its sales "pitch" was said to show the dolls in a sort of hospital, such as recruitment and the creation of a sign that they "had" to release for adoption. He made these dolls look like real children. Needless to say, were an instant hit and people could not get enough of it. When Coleco toy company saw what was a success, they bought the rights to them by Roberts in 1982. In 1988, when ColecoHasbro has filed for bankruptcy for the production of Cabbage Patch Kids. Mattel took over production in 1994 and finally in 2004, Play Along Toys and 4Kids Entertainment has got to do certain things.

Your standard Cabbage Patch Kid was about 15 or 16 inches in height. But time passed by these dolls were in a variety of sizes and styles. At any time can be as many as a dozen different types and sizes of Cabbage Patch Kids wereProduction. The dolls, which have been Roberts has done it all with a damp cloth, chiseled facial features. The dolls, toy companies were among the fingers were placed, but the heads of vinyl, so as to withstand the wear and tear. When Hasbro took over the head began to all vinyl dolls, but in the end, when the dolls were in 2004, they were back in the body of the fabric and vinyl ..

Unfortunately, after the first cry and mass marketing, followed, Cabbage Patch Kid popularity really turn to the '80s. There were too many out there, and the novelty was gone. Originally it was intended that the value of these dolls, finally reached astronomical proportions. But the market is saturated and the easy access to dolls that can now virtually worthless, even though the early Dolls Ebay still get some good value in the later models do not takea lot.

Part of the problem was that the dolls began to gain popularity in the producers of the time trying all sorts of tricks with dolls instead of sticking with the original concept of a simple baby doll believed to be clad in clothes for children who need them. The latest dolls were no longer cute, huggable and acceptable. The dolls, which in 2004 were again went to the original concept, but by then it was all toolate. The Cabbage Patch Kid enthusiasm was practically dead.
